Patient Escort
When you arrive:
Inform your Department that you are here
Write your name and shift on the white board marked “Volunteers”
Sign in on the “Volunteer Sign In Sheet”
Duties:
Meet and transport patients via wheelchair
Assist in meeting the needs of visitors and patients
Assist patients and visitors in finding various locations at the hospital
Respond to discharge calls from IPD
Assist patients to and from ambulance
Do not provide counseling or personal advice to patients.
Refer all medical questions to staff.
Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
Refer unusual requests to medical staff.
Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times
Qualifications:
Ability to walk and stand through a 3-hour shift.
Ability to act calm and professional at all times.
Ability to push patients in a wheelchair
Responsive to patients’ needs, helpful and sympathetic.
Shift: 10AM to 1PM or 5PM to 7PM

Patient Support – Reception
When you arrive:
Inform your Department that you are here
Write your name and shift on the white board marked “Volunteers”
Sign in on the “Volunteer Sign In Sheet”
Duties:
Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for PBEH patients, family and visitors
Answers calls and patient queries
Engage in friendly conversation with waiting visitors/patients who would like to talk
Do not provide counseling or personal advice to patients.
Refer all medical questions to staff.
Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
Refer unusual requests to medical staff.
Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times
Qualifications:
A warm and welcoming personality
Comfort level with ill people
Ability to engage with diverse patients and hospital visitors
Willingness to take direction from staff
Shift: 10AM to 1PM or 5PM to 7PM

IPD Staff:
When you arrive:
Inform your Department that you are here
Write your name and shift on the white board marked “Volunteers”
Sign in on the “Volunteer Sign In Sheet”
Duties:
Receive outreach camps patients
Visit with inpatients while they are awaiting departure
Walk around IPD and offer assistance to patients who are getting ready to go home
Be visible as a reminder you are here.
Provide administrative support to IPD: photocopying, filing, etc.
Do not provide counseling or personal advice to patients.
Refer all medical questions to staff.
Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
Refer unusual requests to medical staff.
Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times
Qualifications:
Ability to walk and stand through a 3-hour shift.

Duties:
Greeting and welcoming customers
Assist the Optic Shop salesman in replenishing stock supplies/ dispensing prescribed glasses
Assist customers with purchases
Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times
Qualifications:
A warm and welcoming personality
Comfort level with ill people
Ability to engage with diverse patients and hospital visitors
Willingness to take direction from staff
Shift: 10AM to 1PM

Outreach Staff
When you arrive:
Inform your Department that you are here
Write your name and shift on the white board marked “Volunteers”
Sign in on the “Volunteer Sign In Sheet”
Duties:
Assist in preparing promotional materials (banners and leaflets) for outreach camps
Assist during outreach activities on documenting (photos/videos)/ at registration
Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times
Qualifications:
A warm and welcoming personality
Comfort level with ill people
Ability to engage with diverse patients
Willingness to take direction from staff
Shift:9AM to 1PM or 10AM to 2PM
